Freedom is when the people can speak, democracy is when the government listens. - Alastair Farrugia ********When did we ever have anyone listen to us in the last 15 years of so called democracy? Atleast, King is going around the country trying to understand them. He is atleast trying. About wanting democracy like in America- Perhaps in about a 100 years we will get there. Like Monarchy, democracy will still not be a perfect system even then. Nothing is perfect. No system will ever be so perfect for Nepal to try to emulate the system of another country with different circumstances, geo-political status with different history . Like Hukka said, we are different, our history is different and Nepal is fully capable of resolving its internal crisis. Lets not forget our pride. Lets not plea with the 3rd parties. ************************************************* 'Democracy,' in the United States rhetoric refers to a system of governance in which elite elements based in the business community control the state by virtue of their dominance of the private society, while the population observes quietly. So understood, democracy is a system of elite decision and public ratification, as in the United States itself. Correspondingly, popular involvement in the formation of public policy is considered a serious threat. It is not a step towards democracy; rather it constitutes a 'crisis of democracy' that must be overcome. - Noam Chomsky, noted American dissident and professor at MIT in On Power and Ideology (1987) Let's keep this spirit up and running!Hamro Raja Hamro Desh Pran Bhanda Pyaaro Cha!
