State visits don't come cheap but this seems a little exessive by any measure. This is also bad publicity for the King when he needs every bit of favorable coverage in the media. The last thing the Monarchy needs is to give credence to the conspiracy theory that King Gyanendra is doing it all for the money and this could not have come at a worse time.
