Himalayan News Service Kathmandu,August 17 Former general secretary of Nepal Students? Union Gagan Kumar Thapa denied charges reportedly levelled at him by Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala that he is a royal agent. Denying the charges, Thapa challenged Koirala to take action against him if he was found to have ties with parties that go beyond his party?s values. ?I am an active member of the party. The party can take action against me if I have any ties with any party that goes against my party?s values,? Thapa said at an interaction at the Reporters? Club. Thapa was a presidential candidate at the union?s failed 10th general convention, which has been postponed for an indefinite period after factions led by Thapa and the establishment resorted to violence in Pokhara. Thapa said: ?I was not against an unanimous candidate for the union?s top post. What I wanted was that my agenda of democratic republic be discussed in the closed-door session. But, instead of discussing my agenda, the session was boycotted.? He also demanded that the NC probe the violence that took place during the NSU?s failed convention at Pokhara. Political analyst Hari Roka said ideology, not an individual, should lead any political movement.
