Just a quick drop in sajha for now ;). I guess this has an impact to all the self-righteous self interest players vis-a-vis india and to some extent other external forces. How significant would this incident be, in the view of India and their western allies? This could be the boon for Gyanendra. What do you gusy think? First joint Maoist attack in India, 21 killed: the Hindu KOL Report KATHMANDU, June 24 - At least 21 people were killed in the first coordinated attack involving both Nepali and Indian Maoists in Madhuban village in the Indian state of Bihar overnight, the Hindu reported Friday. The gun fighting erupted after hundreds of Maoists attacked the police station and two state-run banks in the village near Nepal-India border on Thursday night, the daily reported, quoting Director General of Police Ashish Ranjan Sinha, the state police chief. About 100 Maoists from Nepal were also involved in the attack, according to the Indian police. Seventeen Maoists, two police officers, one paramilitary soldier and a security guard were killed in the all-night gun battle that ended early Friday morning, Indian police said. "The participation of Nepalese Maoists has been proved. This is the first time they were involved,? Sinha said. The gunfight began after police reinforcements opened fire on the Maoists as they tried to flee to Nepal, added reports. (dds)
