Govt lies to Supreme Court; Subedi found in custody KOL Report KATHMANDU, June 23 - The government has been caught lying to the Supreme Court regarding the re-arrest of Nawaraj Subedi, general secretary Janamorcha Nepal on Thursday. Just a day before the government told the Supreme Court that Subedi was not in its custody. However, a team of the National Human Rights Commission Thursday met him at District Police Office, Lalitpur. ?The government?s claim is totally false as we found Subedi being held at district police office in Lalitpur,? NHRC member Sudeep Pathak said. The government, in a written reply sent to the apex court Wednesday, said Subedi was not re-arrested again and nothing has been done to deprive him of his fundamental rights. The NHRC issuing a statement today has urged the government not to violate the rule of law and stop re-arresting the persons released by the court. Subedi was re-arrested immediately by plainclothes security personnel after his release through a court order last week. (dds)
