THIS IS A 3-PART series of LIFE OF "PRATHIK-VI"

=======================PHASE I of PART VI ========================================================

[LOCATION: 3rd and 42nd Roosevelt Ave. NY,NY ]

[TIME: 9:00PM TUESDAY january, xx, 200x ]

 PRATHIK had a very rough day today. He is in NY city in business. 4th time in 3 weeks. It has been that problematic with this particular client.

 Pictures starts flashing on his head. He was doing the same thing in 2003. Title is different, Company is different.

 Present company is far better than the old one. He is happy. But he can never be home. This caused a lot of problem in the past.

 Now, he is a free bird. But is it good? He still have not figured it out yet.

suddenly, his eyes catches a figure coming through the door. he knew her... ... fair complexion. 5'3" amazon... gr8 that's ANAMIKA.

she still looks the same. when was that when he met her. 2003... wow.. its been some time. funny experience.

Last time he met her was in her marriage in 2004. She pulls on the stool; her eyes were on the screen. PRATHIK did not know if she saw him.

PRATHIK have changed. more meat on face, neck. Body has been the same. No belly or WRANGLER.

ANAMIKA: Pete, the usual.

PRATHIK: [ ooh... she comes here often. Bartender knows her choice as well.. okey.]

[ she had a martini. ]

[ walks towards her. stops at a hair's distace from her back stoop such that he is breathing next to her ear]

[ whispering] recognize me?

ANAMIKA: [ turns rapidly in surprise; her lips right next to PRATHIK's] my god!!! PRATHIK!!! how are you?

PRATHIK: [ smiling ] great. could not be better. and how have you been? its been a long time. Right?

ANAMIKA: [ liquor has made her red, still not used to it ] I heard what happened. sorry about it.

PRATHIK: [ god everybody knows. it was 2 years ago...] don't be. it was in the making. but anyway... life goes on...

ANAMIKA: [ she looked charming ] I heard you moved? where are you now?

PRATHIK: [ nepalese people they do talk] yes. twice. first went to INDIANA. Now, I am in San Jose.

ANAMIKA: California. weather must be nice? i am still here.

PRATHIK: weather is fine. but I am never there to appreciate and experience it. I am travelling most of the time.

ANAMIKA: Just like that time when you came to see me.

PRATHIK: [ she also remembers ] yup just like that. Except, they pay me more. I travel first class and hotels are better. have a diners club courtesy of company.

[ he needs to find out about her. ] now its your turn. What are you doing? How is SUNIL? [ SUNIL was the guy she got married to] How many kids? work?

ANAMIKA: I work at Accenture. They pay me well. I still have not made it to management yet! [ she did not say anything about SUNIL]

PRATHIK: [ she does not want to talk. what happened?] Where is SUNIL?

ANAMIKA: we separated like 3 months after marriage. officially like a year after. I did not want to withdraw the paper I filed for him.

PRATHIK: [ curious, felt bad ] what happened? I am really sorry. I did not know. U know.

ANAMIKA: I know about you. DEEPAK dai keeps talking about you all the time. He was not happy about my choice from the beginning. He liked you.

PRATHIK: I did not see marrying so soon then.

ANAMIKA: I know. Way I talked with you then, I am sure u thought I was a b****, right?

PRATHIK: It was a short meeting. Lot of unexpected things happened that day. So, i wasn't forming any expression then.

ANAMIKA: Did you eat yet?

PRATHIK: nope.

ANAMIKA: You have lot of catching up to do. Do you have work, tomorrow?

PRATHIK: Nope. mmm.. Actually, I am catching a 7:00AM flight back to San Jose. Then on Thursday I have to go to Kansas.

ANAMIKA: Do you have to be in San Jose tomorrow? if not you can go to Kansas directly.

PRATHIK: [ what does she have in mind? what ever... i will just go with the flow... ] let me check my emails and I will let you know.

[ his phone/palm/laptop everything there.... .] nothing important. I can do that. What do you have in mind?

ANAMIKA: stay over at my place. I have my own apartment. I will make you a dinner. You can catch up on things.

PRATHIK: sounds gr8. Let me call my travel agent. [ its only 7PM in west coast anyway he had a 24 hrs access line. changes his travel itenary]
