Vice-Chairman Giri in blacklist KOL Report KATHMANDU, June 11 - Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers Dr. Tulsi Giri is among the blacklisted willful defaulters of the state-owned Nepal Bank Limited, the Kantipur daily reported Saturday. Giri?s name was blacklisted in the Credit Information Bureau list for failing to repay the loan he had taken from the bank. Interestingly, Giri has been listed among those in which the Finance Ministry is preparing to send letters to all other ministries to boycott the blacklisted persons at public functions on Sunday. According to reports, Giri had taken loans from Nepal Bank Limited 20 years ago but had never paid back. He had taken a loan of Rs.2 million to run Himalaya Plastic Private Limited on Feb 27, 1986, the company that has been blacklisted by Credit Information Bureau four years before. The bank sources said that the company has a total due of Rs.17.4 million. Giri, whose CIB blacklist number is 1680 and is also a shareholder and the board chairman of the company till date had obtained loans with he himself as a guarantor, the daily reported. The Kantipur daily said that Giri left the country within two months after receiving large chunk of loan from the bank ?The directors of the company had told me that they had already paid all the loans,? the daily reported Giri as saying. Giri returned from long self-imposed exile abroad after 18 years after King Gyanendra picked him up for the post-Feb. 1 government. (dds)
