Mine also expires on June but i talked with my lawer and he told me that if i am out of status, then only i have to go out of the country to get the H1 visa otherwise there sould be no problem. What i am doing is, after the June, you will get 60 days period and and i am planning to join the University in between just to be in safe side. So once your H1B is approved, you dont have to leave the country to get it. Meghna, I heard from my lawer that if you are working in non profit organization, they have seperate quotas for H1B and you dont have to wait to file. They donot have to sponcer you for H1B visa,(tell them that you can do by your own but you need these documents) just talked with them( as you were saying that they like your work), you just need couple of information about the company that you work with. Their FEIN number and you dont have to show the profit as well since your company is not for profit plus you have the letter from that Organization that you work for them as well as you can provide the paystub. You can tell them that you will file your own. it will cost you about $2000- $2500. And in the meantime you can join the college as well so you will be in safe side if that doesnt work out.
