I am sorry to inform you that lolita and reading lolita in Tehran are two entirely different books. Lolita was written by Vladimir Nabokov and is a classic .If you want to know what a classic is ,read that book and none else. others worth reading Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy (forget the movie-the book is what counts) anything by Paul Theraux to kill a mockingbird anything by graham greene Zen and the art of motorcycle maintainence- old but timeless and meera said no sidney sheldon or harry potter type (why,I wonder)-sorry to inform you nirma,its a sidney sheldon book. please remember there is nothing worse than intellectual snobbery-all books are good in their own way- apart from really bad one-but again they stink as soon as you pick them up.
