Well wanted to write one more again!! Thinking about school made me remember a lot of things.. there are so many things to say and so many stories but I cant help but remember the last days. Though I was talking about my 9th grade, but lemme skip some parts and go into the 10th and if there are some parts that I missed why don?t I post that later? I think that will work quite well!! Oki? so into my 10th grade, and with the fear of boards coming up.. people were starting to get more serious. We had this chemistry teacher as our class teacher. Oh oh? did I tell you abt this chemistry teacher? Well guess I did not so lemme go ahead and tell you about her. We use to call her Dutta maam. One of the strictest teacher ever. When I discovered that she would be teaching us in the 9th grade it almost scared my pants off. But she was one heck of a teacher real real good. I hated chemistry, but after I started to listen to her, chemistry was a piece of cake for me. She really din know me as I had not been a very good student in the 8th grade. She gave us our first class test and as I was getting better at the subject, I scored a perfect 100%. Now she was impressed, before I knew what my grade was every section in the 9th grade she taught knew that I had scored a perfect 100. She would go to classes and praise my work, which was okay at first but started getting embarrassing later. So by the things above you might have guessed that I was her best student. Now that she had expectations from me, I din want to fail her. So I started working harder and wud concentrate a whole lot in her class. But as we wud sleep real less during the nights, classes were real boring and sleepy. So this once in her class I was sort of resting my chin on my hand and looking at her and before I knew it my eyes were drooping!! I still remember, when she saw that I was feeling sleepy, she stopped teaching and gave me this cold chill eagle-like stare that she was famous for. I got up instantly, and was fresh as if someone had poured ice water on me, and believe me I am not exaggerating when I say that I din feel sleepy all day that day. Well anyway, she was our class teacher in the 10th grade, and guess who she made the class monitor? Of course me. Hehe?. So I was the class monitor and everyone was kool with that because I really din complain against them or anything. Infact, sometimes I wud get in trouble for letting the gals scream too much. So many things in the 10th grade!! I had this Hindi teacher, Dahiya maam. She was funny. She was like so strict. In the beginnings, she use to be like who is the monitor, and when I got up, she use to punish me for not making the class behave. She use to say that we were the worst class ever, and in the beginning we use to be punished a lot. Her rules were, no coming late inside the class. If you come after herthen you had to stand in the back of the class for a week. If you forgot your book the same thing. (We had 3 different books for hindi, it was tough to remember which one to get.) If you felt sleepy in the class just stand up all day? tht way you wouldn?t fee sleepy at all. And if u whisper even a single word in her class, you had to stand up in her class. Man? I hated her at first. But later things improved. I was okay in hindi, while most people would flunk. The highest that she gave in class was in 60s, and about 5-8 people would pass. According to her, she was preparing us for boards. And I use to get like 55 in her class, not a whole lot, but at least I din flunk. So this one day, when I was sorta dozing off in class as usual with the chin on my hand position I heard her say my name. I got up with a start and was wondering what happened. I asked my desk mate if I was in trouble, and she stared at me and told me to be quiet. I focused all my attention on the teacher, when I heard her say ? woh Nepal se ai hain fir bhi itni lagan aur mehnat karti hai ki aap logo sei bhi badaa marks laati hai. Aap ko Rhythm se kuch siknaa chahiye, dusre desh se aakey bhi aap se acha kaam kar dikhati hain.? I was shocked. I could not believe that she was complimenting me, I felt so guilty that I didn?t sleep in her class anymore. Hehe. The funny thing about her though was during the boards. We use to have 2-3 days off between every exam, so our respective teachers of the subject would come to our hostels to review everything. It was not compulsory to attend theses sessions buy for Daihiya maam it was. The first day I was hiding in my frens room, well I use to been in her room 24/7 anyway, so some people came there saying that Dahiya maam wanted me to come for the coaching. I was like tell her I am in the field. LOL.. that day she made people search the 3 fields we had in school, to look for me. So the next day I HAD to go to classes. I hated the coachings MAN!! A monitor had to take the signature of all teachers during their classes and had to do some tasks assigned by the class teacher. Everything that happened in class was the monitor?s responsibility. The 10th, 11th ?science and the 12th graders had to stay back in school during the summer and winter vacations for extra classes. In winter our class teacher had gone home, so I was incharge of attendance, doing the paper work and a whole lot of things. That made me feel real proud and responsible. But one day, when the Indian Airlines was hijacked from the Nepali airport, I got all tensed and tried calling mom. But she would not pick up the phone, I tried and tried but to no avail. So as I was sooo mad at her, in frustration I went back to the hostel and showered with chill water. Now the temp there was cold! So cold that we were allowed to wear jeans as the skirt would make us freeze. I use to wear 2 turtle necks, one sweater, a jacket and a shawl to top it all. It was that cold. So my dumbness made me sick. I had like about 104 degrees fever, and I refused to go to the dispensary as the nurses treated sick people like dead people. It was difficult for me to even walk, let alone go to skool and do all my proud activities. Till this date I have NEVER gone so thin, as I had in those days. Walking from my classroom to the chemistry lab. To do the paper work was like walking 100 feet high on a thin rope!! But fever and Rhythm are antonyms, so gradually I got better. I was still goofy while the class got serious. Can you believe that there use to be pin drop silence when there was no teacher in class? But I use to be like ?tum log paagal ho kya? Kuch to bolo itna chup kyo ho?? so after getting annoyed with me they made a rule ?ab jo hbi bolega who gadha? someone would yell out. So I shut my mouth and surveyed the whole room waiting for someone to say a word. As soon I spotted someone I would laugh, go to the blackboard and write down who the new ?gadha? was. People soon discovered that I could not be shut. The funniest part was that there was this brand new teacher in our class substituting for this teacher who was absent. The whole class as usual was quiet so I was looking at my school diaries that had the rules and regulation for VDJS. I found the rules so funny coz they were in bold but no one really followed them. As the teacher had just gone out of class I started reading them aloud to the class. Each student was looking at me with eyes wide opes. I had never received their full attention. After reading a few lines, I started wondering why no one was shouting at me. When I looked up the substitue was staring at me to her amazement and my embarrassment. The poor soul was new and didn?t know what to do. So I just said sorry and the whole class burst out laughing! LOL? I wish I had studied back then and not bunked all my physics period in 10th grade. But it was a whole lot fun. I remember coming late from my break to class as we din have any English teacher. And to my amazement we were assigned a new teacher and she had checked our 1st pre-board papers and had it in hand. She didn?t lemme come inside class. I tried to make her understand that the ?chapatis? were all gone so I had to wait for the ?bhaiya? to get me some more. But she wouldn?t listen to me! She went more and more mad and told me to stand ouside class. She was handing back the papers, when she said ?Rythm" and there was no answer. She said it again so I peeked inside and said ?that?s me.? She looked at me as if she could not believe her eyes. She said ?beta you are Rythm?? and I said ya.. I am!! She asked me to come inside and sit down. I figured that I had scored the highest in all five sections. She never punished me after that. Hahaaha She told people ?Rythm is such a naughty kid, but she studies!!? so after that I almost came late to class everyday and got away with it. Those were fun days! So here is my academic year, in school. The hostel part is yet to come!!
