thanks for posting the photo, bedrock. as overwhelmingly devastating as it is, it is an image that everyone should see. one that can teach more lessons than any textbook or lecture. in reading her story, i couldn't help but think about how many cambodian survivors of the khmer rouge have also come to terms, come to peace with the tragic recent history of their country. and what was done to them, their families, their friends. they have forgiven. they see no sense in holding on to hatred or anger. i truly hope the nepali people will learn this lesson too, so that the country can move on- and move ahead- for a better future. another photographer/photograph you may want to know about if you don't already is kevin carter. he took a famous photo of a young sudanese child on the brink of starvation in the early/mid 90s. and a vulture is just waiting for the child to pass so it can feed. it was an award-winning photograph and won carter numerous awards and a great deal of publicity, but his fame led to feelings of guilt and the image haunted him to the point where he committed suicide. a very interesting, very powerful story. here's a link to read a bit more- http://www.thisisyesterday.com/ints/KCarter.html here is the photo-
