Five best press photos awarded The five best press photos in the "Second Press Photo Exhibition 2062" were awarded in a program in Kathmandu Sunday evening. The one week long photo exhibition began on April 26 at Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu, organized by Nepal Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) and sponsored by Photo Concern Pvt. Ltd. The winning photos were chosen by visitors who placed three thousand votes. A beggar couple kissing each other after getting delicious food by Ram Humagai, a tearful reunion of school children with their parents upon their release by Maoists by Sagar Shrestha, an innocent child looking at a truck torched by Maoists by Ravi Manandhar, a full moon by Rajesh Dhungana and a holy lamp lit in the face of dead body prior to cremation by Nuchhe Man Dongol were voted the best five. Chairman of Photo Concern Pvt. Ltd. and senior photographer D B Thapa distributed the awards to the best five photojournalists in the program. Director of the Photo Concern Srijana Thapa, vice-chairman Rajesh Dhungana and General Secretary of NFPJ Dhurba Ale spoke in the program highlighting the importance of the exhibition and the role photographs play to promote recent happenings, social change, modernization, traditions, lifestyles and other various aspects of the nation. A total of 101 photos of 58 photojournalists working in various newspapers were exhibited in the exhibition. The exhibition was organized on the occasion of National Press Photo Day, which is celebrated every year on Baishak 13th in commemoration of the first press photo published in Gorkhapatra on Baishak 13th 1984 B.S
