The reality is that the royals have built up such a huge ego that they believe they are greater and superior beings than other general people. They have widened the gap between the rich and the poor so much that top 2% of these royals and their people are in control of 95% of the country's money. In today's 21st century the age of cloning, the royals have done an excellent job of keeping social segregation at the maximum. While they enjoy million dollar cars, even things of basic necessity such as water and electricity have not reached millions of households in remote Nepal.
