He vowed tough action against anybody found amassing property by illegal means. Talking to newsmen today, Koirala said no corruption suspects would be spared of probe. ?Politicians who used to walk around in cheap slippers few years ago have become billionaires. Where did the money come from?? he asked adding, ?They must disclose the source of their fortune.? While pledging stern action against corruption-tainted persons, including politicians who were in power after the 1990?s political change, Koirala claimed the investigation process and the punishment against them would be fair and transparent. ?We are not biased against any political leader. Only those involved in corruption would be taken action against,? he said and declared that the assets of leaders and others convicted of corruption would be seized and nationalised. He added, ?Our investigation will be transparent and within legal parameters.? In his three decade-long career in the administrative service, Koirala headed the Special Police, the Department of Commerce and Industries and the Customs Department and was the secretary of the Home Ministry before his retirement.
