Too often here in the bad place one gets stuck in trying to prove "i'm right" while losing sight of the ultimate goal of debate which is to not change other's opinions but your own. At the risk of sounding like an unsubstantiated debater, i did a report on this very subject for an entry level behavioral studies class and i found many statistics and examples of children being strongly influenced by what they watched. One example was a group of children watching violent television (News reports and films) and becoming the "bully" of the group at school. This phenomenon occured to the extent that the researchers found a correlation between social acceptance among children and the acceptance of violent behavior (such as a kid trying to become 'cool' by acting violently) However the caveat of the research was that parental influence strongly out-weighed that of what children watched on t.v.
