ndia suspends military assistance to Nepal A week into the King's power grab there is still a lot of dust settling. The biggest news is India's decision to suspend military aid to Nepal and they have taken other measures to show they're strong disapproval of the King's actions, such as refusing to attend the upcoming SAARC conference. It's not completely clear why India has taken such a strong stance, though it fits within their broader approach to Nepal, which has been to support multi-party government. It could possibly be a combination of the widespread outcry from the Indian media over Gyanendra's action and the Indian government's shock at their stand on the situation being expressly contradicted. http://www.satribune.com/archives/200502/P1_arun4.htm
