Warning to the West

Here's my dui paisa: Why are we so quick to jump to conclusions? How do we know that the king's actions won't bring about a positive change in the country? Everyone is so stuck on 'democracy'. But do these people know what it really means? Ideally democracy, or rule by the people, is not possible because it would create anarchy. Who among the people would rule, why would anyone follow any 'other' people? So a government needs to be based more on socio-economic ideals. The real issue is, how can we optimize development of the county with the limited resources that are available? We can not use 'Western Style' democracy because we do not have the resources, man power and technoloy that the west has at it's disposal. America and many other western countries aren't democracies, they are capitalist. YES there is a difference. Without going into too much detail, the system works in the US because the people are able to 'persue happiness' with a plentyful economy. We cannot apply the same rules in Nepal because we don't have the economic structure to sustain 'pure capitalism'. Remember, we are a predominantly agriculture based economy with majority of the citizens being 'illeterate'. I remember a 'gai-jatre' joke from a while back with people yelling: 'we want dwon-yu-kwasi (Bull testicles in newari)'. And I think that's what the problem is, people want democracy but do not know what it is or how to properly flourish it. The only positive that came out of the so-called democracy of past 14 years is people (some very specific people) had a ability to protest. And they used it and abused it. CPN comes to power, protest. UML comes to power, protest. RPP comes to power, protest. King dissolves parliment, protest. A cow is in the street, protest. A dog wags it's tail, protest.... And all it accomplished was regressing the country into economic and developmental black hole... So, why don't we see how the current situation unfolds... we have plenty of time to protest if it fails...
