What if now maoists propose a strategic (not mere tactical) compromise with politcal parties ? The problem of trangular power is not yet solved. With this risky step of King, it is likely that politcal parties and Maoist form an allience, not short-term tactical one but long-term strategic one: maoists truely committing to multiparty democracy and other parties republican democracy. The increasing concerns of international powers specially India (see today, Times of India editorial) over King's step might work as a RARE incentive to Maoist to enter for a credible strategic engagement with political parties by accepting democratic framework and gain international legitimacy. Equally possible is the direct talk between King and Maoists. A possibility can not be ruled out that Palace and Maoist share power (keeping political parties out, may be leaders in the jail on curruption charge). There is a surplus politcal POWER with the King, and being a business man, he may wish to trade it for lasting peace and gaining polititcal legitimacy. With this latest development, the political space available to centerist movement (like current 4-party struggle) is too narrow to make any change. The centerist politcal forces are now forced to choose one of the following alternatives: 1. Allience with King (seems less possible now) 2. Allience with maoist (possible but needs significant political maneuver) 3. Remain inactive and wait till Palace Vs Maoist game is over (this would also allow time for emergenece of new generation of leadership in each parties) -Trying to be truely NISPAKSHA
