Informal theorisation: I posted this news item TWICE. The first time, its heading was: "An alternative justice system". That got 84 views as of 8:22 am (New York Time) Thursday, Jan 20. The second time, I changed its Sajha heading to something sexier: "Republican justice system" This was posted more than 12 hours later than the first one. And this got 121 views as of 8:22 am (New York Time) Thursday, Jan 20. Despite the gravity of the content -- as in, about things happening in Nepal as they are and NOT as someone's shrilly hypothetical version of them to be happening in some future -- BOTH postings attracted no comments. CONCLUSION? Pushing a few statistical quibbles aside (i.e. never mind that maybe there were more people logged on to Sajha the following day; maybe the first thread had slipped off the screen by then, and so on!), putting the word "REPUBLICAN" on your the heading of your postings significantly increases (closer to 45 per cent) the odds of your postings being read by more visitors. oohi ashu
