Happy Birthday, America!

Today, America is 250 years old. Happy Birthday to one of the greatest nations on Earth in this century. While other nations have thousands of years of history and ancient traditions, America is an absolute triumph when it comes to building on the idea that a country can rise with dreams, determination, and raw talent.

Today, America is still the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world because it is a superpower and is the ultimate magnet for human potential, inviting and accepting the brightest minds from every corner of this Earth and giving them the platform to shine and make America a great success story.

What makes America great is that it is based on meritocracy, and it has built a system where it doesn't matter where you came from, what your last name is, or your gender. What matters is your drive, your talent, and your work ethic. If you have that, then you will succeed in America!

And what I have liked about America the most is that it is the only place where 'Second Chance' is possible. In almost all cultures in the world, a single failure will bring shame to you and your family, but in America, failure is viewed as a necessary fuel to write your new success stories.

America is the only place where you can fall a hundred times, dust yourself off, and then climb to the top through your hustle and hard work. This optimism and open-door policy for talent is the reason our Nepali Diaspora has succeeded in the land of opportunity.

According to my sources, there are now 200,000+ Nepalis with legal status in America. Around 50,000+ have the green card through the DV lottery, and more than 7,000 hardworking folks are grinding it out under the TPS thing!

Nepalis in America don't just survive but excel in businesses, academics and even in tech innovation. America offers our folks the freedom to achieve through their talent. And it's not only the remittance sent back home to support their loved ones but also the American mindset as well! I think to unlock Nepal's true potential and make our country great again, we need to adopt America's formula, which is uncompromising meritocracy!

We should and we are slowly replacing the bhaag-banda and 'afno manchey' culture in Nepal as this new government wants to bring real changes and do away with the old 'loot' system of governance! Let's hope we will be a society based on meritocracy, pragmatism, honesty, and integrity at last!

If we really want to be a great nation, we must build an environment where our young ones don't have to leave the land to find a second chance. We need to import some of the American values where equal opportunity matters and innovation is rewarded, and foster a culture where anyone can rise to the top regardless of their caste, gender, and background.

Once again, Happy Birthday to the greatest nation on Earth, and I hope we can learn something from them to build a prosperous Nepal worthy of its incredible folks!
