asylum approval rate in 2025 stands out as remarkably high—an impressive 89.3%. Out of 1,158

total asylum decisions in the state, 1,034 were approved, making North Carolina one of the

leading states in asylum approval nationwide.

Even more striking is the outcome for Nepalese applicants in the state, who achieved a 100%

approval rate. This is particularly notable given that the national benchmark for Nepalese

asylum approvals is around 60%. These figures highlight the exceptional success of asylum

seekers in North Carolina, even in a challenging immigration climate.
