bedrock bro, you know that there is a way that you can predict when the tsunami causing earthquakes is gonna occur by the use of properly monitored seismographs, which is done by measuring the water level chances at tide-gauging stations.... and they have it in pacific region........ after tsunami hit hawaii in 1946....... it can predict when the tsunami is gonna hit the land, not pin point the time, but close enough so that they can evacuate..... if dem nations located near indian ocean would have also set up the same kidna monitoring center.... (yeah, its expensive!!!), they would have been able to evacuate the land and save alot of people........ now talking about Nepal.... dyam....thats a really good question you have raised "what if an earthquake of similar nature and magnitude occur in the himalayas? If it happens, are we ready for it? Do you think Nepali Government is capable of rescue and relief effort? What can we do to prepare ourselves? What does it do to current maoist crisis? What can we tell our loved ones back home? We cannot even make a proper phone call back home during normal time, what do you think will happen if a massive earthquake hits our region?
