Most countries (9) with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designations have already been extended through late 2026. However, Nepal and Nicaragua are exceptions.
Fwd.us quickly sent an official letter to remind the Biden administration that Nicaragua has been left out of the recent TPS extensions. However, no one has done the same for Nepal, even though it is in the same situation.
As a source from Washington, DC, texted: “There is no New Year’s gift for Nepal TPS beneficiaries.”
I texted quickly in response, saying, “I have to write a note on the Nepali community public platform regarding this. How valid is your source?” The guy texted back, “The Federal Register requires some countries to announce today, 60 days from today’s date, since some TPS designations are expiring on March 9, 2025.” After that, there was no further text.
