Not trying to generalize, but why are some Nepalese so stingy when it comes to spending? We know this couple in their 30's who plan weekend getaway or mini vacation but always tend to go for lower end motels for residence. It's not like dude doesn't have money or something (works at a good tech company in bay area). we have to decline to partake on their plan solely due to this.

Granted that I have stayed at cheap motels occasionally in my 20's, I don't feel comfortable to stay in roadside motels with my SO. Now that I am in early 30's I'd rather pay extra to have a nice sleep knowing cleanliness and safety. I sometimes feel hard to hang out with other Nepalese (and Indians) due to their stinginess.Is this an ingrained nature of Nepalese or what's the catch?
