Those who are OK with this new Nagarikta are saying that it is absurd to ask for political rights and bamsaj ko nagarikta in Nepal once one has decided to become a citizen of a different country. Their argument is that dual citizenship/political rights is not compatible with the current नेपालको कानून and that the law would need to be amended to accommodate dual citizenship. . They say this is similar to a US green card in many ways. Everything except political rights. Those who opted for a full US citizenship did so willfully - there was no gun to their head. You can't have your cake and eat it.

Maybe they should make an exception for Gurkha soldiers as their situation is a little different.

The bamsaj demanders have their own agenda too. Gaha Magar , from what I understand, was ousted from NRN because of something he did, and he has an axe to grind.
