Today's Chatpat: September 28th, 2023

1. Nepal has created cricket history in T20 by breaking world records while playing against Mongolia in the Asian Games. Two decade ago, people were surprised to learn that Nepal played cricket and the same question is being asked of Mongolia today. But jokes aside, Nepal managed to score 314 runs in the game. One of our players scored 100 runs in 34 balls and the other scored a half a century in 9 balls! Let's hope other great Cricketing giants won't face Mongolia in the near future but a record is a record and we are proud of our boys!

2. According to our dailies, we have almost 10 billion US$ foreign debt and 50% is owed to the World Bank and 30% to ADB and other nations and donor agencies make the rest. We have around 5 to 6 billion US$ in domestic debt and interest rate is double digit while foreign debt carry only 1 to 2% interest rate. Nepal is finding it difficult to borrow from foreigners while domestic creditors are having fun providing loans to our incompetent government. India and China have both provided around 300+ milion debt to Nepal!

3. Happy Indrajatra to the people of Kathmandu Valley and yes it is only celebrated in the valley and a government holiday for valley residents! We do live in a diverse society with our culture, tradition, religion and many more diverse background and we hope that we, the people will not fall into traps of vested interests to create division among us. It's a good thing that our VVIPs walked from New Road Gate to Basantapur. May Lord Indra bless us all and if you don't believe in him then may your God bless you and your family as well!

4. One-man army protester, who goes by the Name E: has signed a four-point agreement with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Now, we need to see how our street vendors are provide space in an already congested city where footpaths are non-existent and vehicles bully pedestrians. We must also understand that our government and government agencies have failed us and it is not only Balen's fault. Kathmandu had earlier resolved the street vendors issue decades earlier by providing a space for them inside Bhrikutimandap. The issue of providing spaces for street vendors is controversial and logically impossible to carry out in an unplanned urban areas like our capital.

5. Our PM is in his final leg of Pre-Dashain vacation in China. He is now visiting Kaliash-Manosavar area as he continues to prove his point that he has now turned religious. He has visited Hindu temples in India and even our Pashupatinath. Don't be surprised if he leaves politics, moves to Vanarasi and becomes a great Swami by 2030! We wish him well and even if the dreams of millions of youth are never fulfilled and thousands of lives sacrificed for his so-called whatever cause it was, he has at least fulfilled the dreams of his near and dear ones and that's what matters in politics, right?
