\Today's Chatpat: September 22nd, 2023
1. Once again, our Presidential pardons have become controversial and are indeed violation of the constitution but there is no outrage despite the media blaring and shouting about such pardons. A toley mundrey who happens to be a member of a youth organization of Nepali Congress has been freed from jail after serving 5 years of his life sentence thanks to our Honorable President RCP.
The guy killed another toley mundrey and was supposed to serve the minimum twenty years in prison. This mundrey was freed for good behavior? The President had pardoned hundreds of criminals including this politically-affiliated mundrey during the occasion of Constitution Day a few days ago.
2. Iron Maiden is back in the news. The band's front man, Bruce Dickinson is working on his new Solo album and should be a nice treat for his fans. The album will be released in early 2024 and will be his seventh solo album. His last solo album was released in 2005. FYI, Bruce is also a pilot and loves flying jumbo jets around the world.
3. Rupert Murdoch has stepped down from day-to-day control of his Fox and News Corporation boards. Murdoch, an Australian, later American citizen, managed to shake up the tabloid industry in the UK and the US and went a step further by starting Fox News in 1996 and can be credited with rising conservatism and right-wing mindset in the Western countries.
4. In our Faltu news, a young man has been arrested for stealing a Boka, a male goat. Our media does have time for such absurd news. Who really cares if he steals chickens next? But the surprising thing is that this young man had earlier stolen a Khasi and was out on bail. Then, he managed to steal a Boka and got arrested again. Either he is an animal lover or has good connections to the local butcher shop in his neighborhood.
5. The Ministry of Labor and what not, has decided to take action against educational consultancies in the country by banning them from sending our youth to work or internship-related visas. The Education consultancies have been making billions of Rupees without having to pay off the labor, immigration, local mundreys, political parties when sending our young people abroad. Now, our commission-khors want some piece of the action. I won't be surprised if it were the manpower agencies who could have paid big bucks to the mantri to take such action against the education consultancies.
Every year, our young people spend around a billion US dollars for further education abroad. Many consultancies do send young people to Japan and Eastern European countries for language or other courses but are actually study and work (most of the time) visas. The Education consultancies are actually making more in terms of Rupees than our manpower agencies. Most of them do not care about the sufferings and exploitation of the young folks who have to pay more than Rs 10 lakhs or more for such visas.
