Today's Chatpat: September 16th, 2023

1. Four people murdered inside a saw mill in Tinkune. According to media reports,a UML leader happens to be the owner of the enterprise where the murder occurred. Nepal Police has arrested 4 people for questioning. They do move fast when it comes to investigation concerning ordinary citizens but seem to be lost and confused when it involves politicians, civil servants and tax evading business people.

2. Don't be surprised if you do not see any nursers and doctors in Nepal by 2030. So, my advice would be to introduce CPR and surgery classes from grade 1 and also have such training for all common citizens in our ward offices around the country. We will definitely need it when our healthcare professionals will not be around to help us in the future.

3. Paras Khadka and Mayor Balen have come together to introduce cricket classes in community schools in the valley. Hope, we will also have self-defense, arts, music and CPR classes in the future as well. Balen is in the Time's 100 List. Some of the people are not happy. Well, we are never happy. We are less worried about the scam artists who have been in power for the past 30+ years but are afraid of independent mavericks like Balen, Harka and other Mayors around the country. They seem to be the real threat to democracy?

4. PM Prachanda and his near and dear ones will be leaving for New York today. We wish him all the best and hope he enjoys his pre-Dashain vacation. For the rest of us, who will be traveling to Thailand for Dashain vacation, don't forget to pay your 5% tax and buy as much handbags and apparel you can while you are there.

5. The man behind the 60kg gold smuggling racket, Mr. Dawa has told the CBI people that he only knows the Maoist leaders as friends since his wife is also from Rolpa. The media has reported that he has some links with two former IGPs but he says that he only sends WhatsApp messages as a well-wisher. Dawa is a foreign citizen who also holds a Nepali citizenship and is reported to have done his thing for years before getting caught.
