I too had bad experience with EV. I was forced to rent EV by Dollar car rental in SFO airport.
I never drove EV before. They told me if I want gas car, i have to pay $25-30 more per day for the most basic car. So i opted out for an EV.  I rented the car couple of days before my trip and the cost was about 80-100$ per day.
I was provided wirh Chevy bolt. The car was only driven 70 miles before me. Basically it was brand new car. After I drove around 100 miles, the car broke. It showed some issue and the car won't to above 30miles/hr in freeway. I had to use hazard light and exit. After I called the rental company, they took around 3 hours to come to my location and I had to be dropped back to SFO so that I can get another car. It took me around 1 hour to get another car since the person working their (i do not have to say who, the lazy ass mf) was super lazy and making excuses. Finally I got a gas car and got fk out of their. In near future i was thinking i may buy an EV. But now in next next 5 years 0 per cent chance that I will buy any EV.
I live in TX and happy with gas car. California is getting worse day by day.
