When Balen first began digging the land everywhere saying people have been abusing the laws and covering up the river bla bla and that the river should be open etc. I created the post doubting what after this? That whole step was so near sighted, but still there were supporters in us who supported his movement and praised his brave step. I was not sure if it was brave at all in the first place. Just like the famous adage goes, 'morning shows the day', the way Balen shot up to fame in just 2-3 days after taking up the Mayor post through this whole fiasco he was creating, it itself has been a forerunner of the quagmire he was getting himself into as we all can see now. I have some friends who work for the Nagarpalika there and talking to them itself revealed to me that there is growing resentment against him already. Balen is all about creating "spectacle" and nothing else. One time it is the "hidden river", the next it is all the squatter retail areas, and then something else. He has been hopping from one subject to another without really closing on any issues. And we all know, this is not a quality a leading position asks for. It is the inexperience in his leadership skills that is showing so blatantly.
With Rabi, yes, I had some hopes. Maybe his background was very unconventional. A guy who wrote a song for Ram Krishna Dhakal once and who was more into movie world, came back from US and gave up all that US has to offer has been coming forth with some innovative ideas. Yes I was rooting for him, but then he messed up really bad. I still am not able to process how could a sane person like him can miss reading those preliminary rules before making this big jump in the political arena? It is beyond me. Now they are talking about re-election and all. Really? Wasting another amount of money and time? Is this what Nepalese politics is all about?
