When Putin had White House dancing to its tune, there would have been no need to invade Ukraine because Trump would never have expanded NATO membership. He was against NATO to begin with and probably would have dissolved NATO itself, had he won the second term. This Ukraine development definitely would not have occurred as stated but for a different reason, not because of Trump's strength or foreign policy, but because he was already a puppet of Russia and would not have posed any threat to Russia. China is definitely aligned with Russia and there was a tacit understanding that the invasion would not overshadow the Olympics so that is why it occurred only after the game was over. It also benefits China because it is already facing challenges regarding Taiwan and it would love to see the US exposed or tested in multiple fronts so as to weaken the US hegemony further. It would not be a great surprise if China also took some action against Taiwan since US would be stretched too think to get involved in two wars.
