First of all my condolences to the family members of the dead. May all the deceased rest in peace. However, I find it surprising that the appropriate authorities could not act in time to save thousand of lives. From whatever little information I have from the news sites, teh tsunamis travel at around the spped of 500 km/hour. Considering the epicenter of teh quake being thousnd of kms away from India and Srilanka, how did the waves strike without warning? A warning system cud have lessened the bodycount, i think. Its a shame taht proper mechanism was not in place for early warning system. Can any individual with some knowledge in this field tell what wnet wrong? Thanks.
