`Nima Temba Sherpa,' a film by Margriet Jenson-- a Dutch filmmaker- bagged the 'Audience Award' at the third Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) 2004 that concluded in the Nepali capital Sunday. "Audience are the best judge and I am happy to receive this award," said Margriet, accepting a momento by chairman of the KIMFF 2004, Basanta Thapa, this evening. The film by Margriet features climber, Sherpa Nima Temba, who has climbed one of the highest Himalayan peaks several times along accompanying the European or American expeditions. While the media reports only on western heroes, climbers like Sherpa never hug the limelight. Margriet has made Sherpa the hero of her film. Addressing the function, Thapa said all the films screened at the festival were house-full and that over 7,000 audience turned up at the four-day film festival. He also informed that the fourth KIMFF would be held in 2006 while Film South Asia (FSA) will be organised in Kathmandu in late September next year. Nearly 50 films, documentaries and features from over 20 countries were screened at the festival. Half a dozen films by Nepali filmmakers were also featured in the festival. Himal Association, a not-for-profit organisation, hosted the festival with the support of a number of organisations. ------------------------ from nepalnews
