come on guys, give him some sensible suggestions. i would go with gallant's suggestion. if i were you, u-day, this is how I would deal with this situation: Take my roommate out to bar or a cafe, buy him a beer/coffee or whatever he wants to drink and talk to him about it. you know, everything can be resolved with a bit of talking. Instead of living with hatred and bitterness, which in turn would make your life bitter, just tell him nicely- "hey dude, you need to pay the rent. i am a student, i need money.
