Hundreds of Maoist rebels brutally tortured around half a dozen women cadres of People?s Front Nepal (PFN), including a six-month pregnant, in Baglung district of West Nepal on Monday night, reports said Thursday. Six males were also injured in the incident. According to reports, a group of armed rebels forcibly entered the house of Rupa Thapa, wife of PFN central Vice president Pari Thapa at Damak VDC-4 and cruelly tortured her in front of her children by drilling sharp drill bit into different parts of her body, reports citing eyewitnesses said. Rupa who was taken to Pokhara for initial treatment has been brought to Kathmandu and is undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Damak VDC is at seven hours walk from the district headquarters. Rupa's neighbour, Ram Prashad Sapkota, who tried to protect Rupa from the rebels, was also injured in the incident. Sapkota has also been brought to Kathmandu for treatment. Moreover, the rebels entered various other houses in the village and tortured several other women including a six-month pregnant- Achupli Sapkota. Bhagrathi Sapkota, Bishnu Devi Sapkota, Shanti Thapa and Leela Acharya were also injured in the incident. Narayan Prasad Poudel, Bhawani Prasad Acharya, Laxmi Prasad Poudel and Ishwori Poudel were also injured in the Maoist attack. Meanwhile, PFN leaders have vowed to fight against Maoists until the Maoists change their ?fascist? policy to eliminate other political forces.
