Harvard Senior to Raise $20,000 for Laptops for Nepali Children
Shailesh Munankarmi, a senior at Harvard University is working to raise US$20,000 to donate laptops from the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program to his hometown school in Bhaktapur, Nepal. Under this program, the donor who pays for one hundred or more laptops are able to designate where the laptops are distributed.
Shailesh wants to give back to the school and community that he grew up in. In his own words, not all children are as privileged as he is. Undeterred by the economic climate, believing that help is even more necessary at these difficult times, and with the help from few of his classmates, Shailesh is hosting a fund raising event on March 8, Sunday 1-4 (a Nepali Buffet) at the Kathmandu Spice Restaurent at Arlington (See details at the end of the page).
