  1. You can wire transfer the money by creating a new a/c in your BoA a/c. Check your BoA for more details.
  2. BoA carges $40/45 per transaction. This service is better if you are sending huge fat money at a single shot. Its easy:
2a. Get Swift Code/ Routing Number of the Bank.
2b. Checking Acoount ( A/c) Number or Saving A/c Number ( this is where the transferred money will go).
NOTE:
- WesternUnion Sucks if you have to send money more than $2000 or $2500. They will ask you whole bunch of question, have to appear for telephonic interview and justify your transaction: For ex: last 3 bank statement, purpose of sending etc

- There were similar thread earlier but no concrete solution.

rshois - If you want, you can give the money to someone here and get cash back home as well.

Hello rshois!

BTW, where are you located?

Please let me know if you are still looking for an alternative way to send your money to Nepal.

I understand transfers that are more than $10K get lot of scrutiny, I guess to prevent money laundering.

I think if you use Chase Bank and send it through Nabil or Investment bank?(not sure which one, may be both), the rate will be really cheap.

I used a credit union and their charge was $25. But later on it turned out that they actually send it through Chase (CU cannot send money outside US) and Chase also charges additional money. It was a bit expensive at the end.

Do not sent any money more then 9999 back home you will be investigated. 10K is an automatic flag. same with bringing the money here fellers. Goodluck - it is better if you find someone here to give the money and get the cash Nepalese money back home.

Try Noorani Money Transfer if you r in TX. They will charge you $10 to send upto $9999.99. Good rates even. They can deposit that money directly in your banks too.
