Law and order only applies to poor and helpless in Nepal. A tourist was held as hostage and was recently released in weak and poor state, and corrupt Nepali officials decide to arrest her. They give pardon to murderers, thugs, and robbers, but the poor helpless tourist is being held as a prisoner. Did they offer to help her make contact with her country officials? Welcome to Nepal! Do any of tourism-affiliated industries think this is not their business? Nepal is messed up, not only because of politicans.

well law and order should not pardon the culprit. Yeah, she hasn't done that kinda serious crime that the robbers, murderers or the corrupt people in the state have done. But nevertheless the law is equal for everyone. And in this case she's done crime by overstaying and without valid visa and she should pay for that else go to jail No option. 

Why is it strictly enforced only on the poorest and the weakest?
Aren't these the same immigration officials who didn't check the visa of tourism minister to show their status of loyal dogs while asking for extra paper (other than citizenship, passport, and visa) to prove the nationality of Sherpa didi?
The same corrupt officials would have pardoned if there was a phone call from the higher official or the minister?
How can she come to renew when she was being held as hostage? Is there something called special circumstances or it won't mean anything until there is a phone call?
Yes, law should be blind regardless of the circumstances but it is more blind to some than others.

The report doesn't say she paid the fine, but the good thing is that she is now released. Such a shame and lawlessness! As in other cases the culprit still walks free.
