Captain, How do we take the gun toting militants off the street ? PEOPLE THAT SUPPORTED THE SO CALLED PEOPLE'S MOVEMENT SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE THEY KICKED THE KING OUT. HOW DO WE REASON WITH PEOPLE CARRYING GUNS ? You can ask them to join the political organization but reality is they do no sem to be interested. I AM NO EXPERT, AND YOU WON'T SEE ME SUPPORTING ANY POLITICAL OR SOCIAL ORGANIZATION(i was not in NYC holding placards, nor was I here supporting anyone, just your average independent citizen voicing an opinion). WHen the republic people were touting for a change, I was one of the people asking REPUBLIC MOVERS AND SHAKERS to be a lil patient to let the king do his job. But unfortunately the King turned out to be nothing but a sitting duck. My ideal solution would be for UN to intervene(cause I don't trust any of these corrupt politicians).

Jai Hindu - How long can you bury your head in the sand and stay in denial about Nepal's new reality? The Monarchy is terminally ill and will die soon. At this time Gyanendra probably has a better chance of becoming President someday than staying on as monarch. Read the writing on the wall so that you are not shocked when the sh%t hits the fan. Bathroom Coffee - I can totally relate to the concern you expressed. But what has happened has happened. We can't go back and change history and it is not reasonable to expect the King's direct rule to return - unless you too are in denial :) I agree with your idea of UN involvement. That is exactly what they are trying to make happen in Nepal. I hope it works out. BTW, I was not in NYC either and when you say you are "just your average independent citizen voicing an opinion" , all I have to say is rock on! While I have chosen to take a stand on this issue, I too am an independent person who has opened his mind up to different possibilites and chosen the one he believes will work best for the country and its people. Happy Dasain to you all!

Bathroom Coffee - Also, to your other point about reasoning with the Maoists, while I don't have any particular love for them, you have got to admit that they have shown remarkable flexibility so far. The key is to keep the pressure up on them through things like UN involvement, pressure to disarm - both from local and international sources, and continued negotiations. Yes, their weapons are still a problem and that is why many reasonable people , across the political divide, are after them for just that. Given the stakes involved, I am willing to gamble on negotiations (both bilateral and with UN involvement) working. Because there really isn't a viable alternative to that.

the spa need to buckle up and get to a concluding agenda asap. democratic forces bound to differ in idealogies so the procrastination that they are making is understandable to some extent, however they should not fail to understand that failure in reaching to consensus soon can prove more fatal to democracy as royalists are battered to unconsciousness but they are by no means dead. the recent military coup in thailand is a wake up call. while i don't see that happening in nepal, i don't deny it's possibilty. Yes I agree. That coup has scared the poop out of some in the SPA and hopefully they will get off their fat bottoms and kick some stuff around.

IMI - Agreed the Maoists are doing things that you and I don't like. But, tell me, what exactly should we do about the Maoists ? And please spare me crap like shoot them all or bring back the King or anything as infantile as that.

Captain, I got what you are saying but let me tell you this Maoist are like cancer Even if you cure one part or cut or operate and throw it .they will come again and again. They will not be satified untill they kill Nepal. The ultimate goal is to kill Nepal( i hope you are getting my sahitya here:)) They have promised so many so much that it cannot be fulfilled .And we all know that how much maoist can sell dreams. What is the route to tame them?? i know i don't have one cause now they are like street dogs ..chada kukur ..hard to make them domestic..they will run away from home when ever they get chance.. So,solution as Morarity says: marginalize them and demoralize them so they realize they can't win. Now the encouragement they are getting from civic society leaders and other .makes them proud and feel what they are doing is right- killing, extrortion etc However..i feel they are nepali too and have been using innocent childerens for fullfill their selfish agendas..my heart won't want all these 30 k nepalese maoist soldiers to be killed but if we can kill top 100 leaders we can successful for now. but i already said they are cancer..needs operation time to time.

Finishing top 100 leaders... not a bad idea..... but I don't think it's going to happen. One more time we need Military intervention.... more curfews in kathamndu Valley... extended curfews for many many months.... all the cadres will run away. If Mussaraf can prevail... for sure army rule can prevail in Nepal... but problem is it needs support of India... and to get that support army will hav eto make deal with India, something like selling Karnali or so, economically Nepalese will lose, but at the same time also lose Maoists too...

IMI - Marginalizing them is an interesting strategy, the success of which depends on how it is executed. The most effective way to marginalize the Maoists, in my opinion, is to hand them a defeat at the polls. The way I see it, polls can't happen till there is a CA and a new constitution and those in turn can't happen without the Maoists agreeing to meaningful arms management and perhaps even joining the government to stabalize it. The country is between a rock and a hard place. If there is one way to stop the Maoists, it is for them to be defeated in the general elections - the supreme court of public opinion. This may sound like a tall order at this time, but I am willing to bet you a buck, that this could very well be the way things turn out to be, if things continue on the current trajectory. Kali kali - You are out of sync with the majority of the people in Nepal. They don't seem to think the way you do. Read this again.

"WE SHOULD LIVE IN BUSH'S IDEOLOGY.. EITHER THESE SPAMMERS ARE WITH US OR AGAINST US? IF THEY ARE AGAINST US, I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO LEAVE THIS PLANET." Hey, wake up, go look in the mirror, you are no George Bush! And care to explain how exactly you plan to make these "spammers leave the planet"? You do realize making death threats over the internet can be a prosecutable offense, don't you? I can respect your feelings about the Monarchy but when you talk nonsense like the way you just did, you only end up looking like a fool.

captain, hahaha. you are wasting your precious time and energy to convince Jaihindu hehe. Trust me this folk knows all the titbits yet he is trying to spread his fake idealogies (he is my sajha dad after all, i know him hehe). Jaihindu's fake idealogy: 1) if you support maoists revolution, you are a terrorist (no doubt) 2) if you support maoists and have faith on SPA, you ARE a terrorist 3) if you abhor maoists but believe in SPA, you are STILL a terrorist 4) if you abhor maoists, believe in both SPA and King, you are STILL a terrorist 5) if you hate everyone but the king, you are a nationalist so majority of sajhaites are terrorists for my sajha dad jaihindu hahahaha LooTe

In reality and truth... Selfish and stupid Nepalese people do crimes and corruption in the name of Democracy, Freedom, Peace and Human Rights. These corrupted Criminal crooks make easy surviving money earning tool to Democracy and Human Rights. Without true Equality, Justice and Civil Rights.... Democracy does not work. In 6 decades, Criminal Nepalese enjoy with Nepali Democracy which has no quality of true Democracy. So you all think about that...

I believe in monarchy being neccessary for the Nepalese. I don't trust the crooks who are the so called political leaders. I support monarchy with some power which will enable it to function in the benefit of the country. The King should be given the powers according to the 1990 constitution. He is needed for check and balance without which the crooks will in no time bring the country down. I believe and admire his steps to rescue the nation. Had it not been the Indian conspiracy, he would be able to bring the nation foreward.
