[NesocaNepal] Gorkha Sarkar Nepal Sarkar I just thought that fellow members may want to see some pictures of postage stamps showing the history of the names Gorkha Sarkar and Nepal Sarkar. This has become a topic after the change in the name of our government, and its history is something to know. PIC-1...The name of the Nepal government based in Kathmandu was changed to Gorkha Sarkar after the Shah conquest in 1769. The name Gorkha Sarkar appears at the bottom of this stamp issued in 1907. PIC-2...The name Gorkha Sarkar was retained until 1930, when it became Nepal Sarkar (as shown on this stamp of that year).

Kindly clarify if the years you are giving are B.S. or English calendar. Lot of confusion in that part...because the time period given by you is broad...1769 to 1907 to 1930. Next discussion will be after clarification.

Those dates 1769, 1907 and 1930 seem to be in AD, because 1769 AD is the year Privthi Narayan Shah won over Kathmandu, which is roughly 1825 BS. In the first stamp, the date given in nepali is 1964, which is roughly 1907+57.( BS is 57 years ahead of AD.) In the second stamp, the date given in nepali is 1986, which is roughly 1930+57 again.
