Unfortunately, someone is denied OPT, and was advised to leave country. Is it possible to change the status to F1 by getting admission anywhere or F2 (as his wife is in F1 status). Lawyers are simply asking to leave.

Advice is very much appreciated.

change your status to a dependent of F1, Then you wont have to leave the country, i am not so sure if you can legally work as a dependent or not though.

Consult with indian lawyers. I have seen people getting greencard even after receiving deportation letter.

Gwajyo..
I don't know at what status you are in. If you are in F1 and your OPT has been denied then you can just get admission and stay in F1 till you get a job. I think easiest way is to change into F2 and start searching job. If you get the job, you can change into H1B status and start working happily. I have seen so many cases like this. It's not the end.

All the best.

Actually, it's not for me; it's for a friend. I told the same to them; but they're just thinking of going back. Thanks for replies.
