Is anybody here from Summit, New Jersey or the vicinity? If so, I sure would appreciate some information on the area - particularly about the real estate, apartments, transportation facility, crime level ... overal how livable is the place? In the same note, anybody here working/used to work at Schering-Pough?

Sorry dude/dudette, I am a bit further from Garden State, and I have no idea how is the area and its vicinity. Happy moving to a new place and a job! By the way, since you have been asking question to us, let me ask you a simple question- how did you get a job in such a nice bio-tech co.- Schering-Plough??? Any advice for us???

Thanks for responding, even if you do not have the information. How does Schering-Plough hire? Well, if you are in a final year of a PhD program in a field such as Chemistry and give talks in major conferences such as PittCon, they will approach you. First comes the casual conversation with an HR and the hiring manager. If they like you, they will ask you to join them for a dinner with other team members. Then, if you make the cut, you get invited to their company HQ at Kenilworth, NJ (R&D is moving to Summit, NJ later this year) for a day long interviews with various team leads, directors and senior scientists. If they approve of you unanimously, you get the offer in about two weeks. Not much of an advice, is it? Sorry if the posting sounded smug. Good luck!

Interesting advice!!! However, it's a long way to go for me.... I was just thinking, you might have done it through headhunter like lab assignment or etc. Otherwise, HR jindaabaad... Are you kidding me??? You took me through detour from conferencing to dinner to unanimous approval within 48 hours of my Shering-Plough virtual tour... By the way, is R&D moving to NJ later this year??? Anyway, dude thanks for the information!
