Hello, My employer is ready to sponsor GC via STEM OPT, but when I consulted lawyer, they say i could not transition from OPT to GC directly. I prefer to skip h1 if possible. I am on 12 months OPT now.Do you happen to know some lawyer who can handle this case, preferebly near Minneapolis. Thank you in advance!

I have 5 months during my regular OPT. My employer is E-verified and I should be able to extend my OPT for next 24 months after August.

Fire your lawyer. There are obvious tedious steps from employer side as well as applicant but most have converted Student to GC

Yes, i have also seen students on OPT directly file for green card. It's not a linear process f1, h1, green card. It just feels like it because most people go that route. I am in a different state and my previous attorney only takes local clients. My suggestion, talk to 4 or 5 immigration lawyer in your area, i am sure you will find someone who knows better.
