Sorry dude, I didn't see your thread earlier -- Here's a short glimpse of what you'd see in the wonderful world of Networking Career: ;)
-You don't sit and write code ~ You design the backbone of Networking. You go out and make deals with vendors, security providers, clients, and even your own boss.
-There's no point where you'd feel you have learnt enough -- in other words, you'd have to possess the knowledge of a little bit of everything related to computers and the IT, including Programming Languages (mainly C/C++, Assembly, & Perl), DataBase (both from Networking such as configuring and running SQL Server, and DB design perspective- such as Oracle and SQL developments), Hardware (Processors, Memory, SCSI,Motherboard, Different RAID levels, Drivers and Firmwares from different vendors), Networking (Firewall and DMZ, CISCO Switches and Routers, Win/Linux Server, Client side OS), and Security (Perimeter Security, Intrusion/Extrusion, Social Engineering, Software Exploits, Viruses and Malware etc); as well as a certain level of Project Management skills. Not to mention, web world languages such as PHP/Javascript and the familiarity with HTML coding is a must (Not to design or develop web pages, but to secure them from threats).
-You'd want to get some global certifications, just like you mentioned -- and I think I had once posted a cert-series on one of the threads couple months ago. Anyways, here's the path that I'm following:
Comptia's A+ -> N+ -> Security+ -> MCP XP Pro -> Server '03 -> Cisco CCNA -> CEH -> CISSP
Getting certified adds up confidence on you, while it lures the employers. It's a proven fact.
So far I know, there aren't many Nepalese really into the hardcore Networking field yet. I'm sure many of them have adequate knowledge while working on other related IT fields though.
