Ayush Dhital is among few youths of Nepalese origin who want to learn more about where they came from and feel the joy in attaining knowledge about their country and culture. Many youths have abandoned their identity and joined the bandwagon that goes nowhere 90 miles per hour. A great man once said, if you forget where you came from, you might end up heading in the same direction. Dhital has understood that maxim and is seeking to understand Nepalese culture and tradition despite having grown up most of life away from Nepal. Most importantly, he is proud of his identity. There are a lot of people trying to escape from the reality assuming that it was never there but the best way to improve ourselves is to understand who we are and why are we the way we are so that we can work on our strength to create a better future.
Dhital is embracing this new wave with energy and enthusiasm. With his dynamic personality, Dhital was able to win the title of “Mr. Vogue ANA” in 2011. He is using that title and recognition to create positive changes in his sphere of influence which seems to be increasing everyday. Dhital, with his charm and charisma, is involved in many social and community sponsored activities for the good of all. He is one of the few people that utilize their resources for the benefit of community rather than self-aggrandizement and sensual aims. He is embracing the values of Nepalese culture with the advancement of American life to create an ideal life for himself and help others do the same.
A handsome man with a tremendous personal magnetism, Dhital is very easy to approach not just by a beautiful women but by anybody who needs his help and advice. He is an individual with a very pleasing personality and part of his success in early years is due to his ability to deal with people of different ages and backgrounds. To be precise, he is the man of the moment and you wouldn’t have any dull moment with him(We are sure ladies will get the message).
My ANA Experience
by AYUSH DHITAL
Before going to the ANA convention, I had forgotten about the culture I was born into. Though I moved to the United States when I was 8 years old, I only resided in Nepal for 5 years. The first three years was in Philippines. Even being in the United States for 16 years, our family has sustained the Nepali culture in our household. My feelings before going into the convention was excitement, I already knew how to speak Nepali “fluently” and I thought I knew all about the Nepali cultures. I was in for a big surprise. While attending ANA, it ended up being a hard transition. Lot of times I could not find the words I was looking for in Nepali. I was far from fluent. Some parts of the culture seemed very different also. I cannot describe my experience with just a word. I got to meet and become close with lots of people. It helped me improve my Nepali and I become re connected with the culture that I was born into. So far in my life this is one of the best thing I have done. With it, I wouldn’t have known all the wonderful people I call friends and never been more proud to be a Nepali.
