College girl rescued from abductors' clutches

An Armed Police Force (APF) team rescued Isha
Bhattarai, an intermediate level student of Kathmandu's Padma Kanya
Campus, in dramatic circumstances a day after she was abducted from the
capital.

Originally from Gaurigunj, Jhapa, Isha
was found inside a passenger bus (registration no. BA 3 Kha 2460,
Rajdevi Travels) in a near unconscious state by the APF patrol team
from Base Camp Nijgadh during a routine checking at Amlekhagunj of Bara
district. Police suspect that her abductors may have drugged her and
were trying to take her across the border.

According
to reports, the victim started crying immediately after seeing the
policemen and before the latter could suspect fowl play the abductors
fled the scene.
Upon inquiry by the police, Isha could not remember how she happened to be
on the bus.

She
said she was approached by two strangers while traveling in a van and
couldn't remember what happened after that. She said she can neither
identify her abductors.

She has been taken to the area police post in Nijgadh and is said to be doing well. nepalnews.com
