I did that six years ago. There has to be some student attorney in your school. 1)Contact him. 2) In MN as long as your don't have your wages 40 times the federal minimal wage. They cant do shit. Thats 5.something*40 3) If you have a court appointment: someone from the sheriff office will come to your address to give you the court summon. So, make sure that you are not searchable. Change your address frequently. Don't apply for any cards or loans. This will get your current address with credit bureaus and they can track you easy. If your schools search engine shows a current students name and address--make sure that you opt out. In short stay low. Even if they track you. And a sheriff gives you a letter (court summon) you don't have to go. The judge is going to give the verdict in their favor, which just proves that you have loan. They cannot arrest you. 4) Again in MN, they can garnish your car. So don't buy a car more then $3,500. They cannot take anything lower then that. Check with your local school attorney for free. 5) They can garnish your bank account with a court's approval. Make sure you have multipe bank accounts with savings account. Its harder to touch savings account which is protected much more then checking. 5) Everything above would hold true for Collection Agencies and for state of Minnesota. Credit card companies have a little more power (which they never use under normal circumstances and sell the account to the collection agencies) . Again check with your school's free lawyer.

And yeah, Be bold and if those guys call you, pretend 'no English' and hang up. Best of Luck. Again, the worst can happen only of the sheriff hands you the letter. Just make sure they you are untraceable.

always help nepal help nepaliit is not good idea to stop making payment.you never knowwhen you will make more money.may be after couple yearsyou will start making good money. at that time you willwant to get a new car or house or etc. you will rememberwhat you did at that time and it will be very hard to fix it. we people have unlimited desire and you never knowwhen this will be activated again.my suggestion is that searchthey will help you.you will be paying your debt almost withoutinterest. if you do this you will pay everything within 4yrs and you are safe. your score will not go down and after fouryears you are in good shape.

Once you have the credit card everybody is busy paying
others bills and satisfying your own desires. Credit card is a slow poison it
eats you at a snail's pace, till one fine day you realize that you are ensnared
with this f-cking venom. I know it’s
tough to pay such high payments, especially when you are a student. Generally law cannot do anything against you;
only thing that sucks is that your credit is f-cked up. In future you are gonna
face the consequences of bad credit like I am facing now. If you want to buy a new car or if you want to
get a mortgage or even when you apply for a various jobs- credit is so fcking
important. But keep your head up, work
hard to get a good job. Once you land a high paying job, you can always clear
your past records and create a new foundation.
The lesson for everybody that has a credit card is to be responsible and spend
your credit as according to the salary you make. If you are a student, make
sure you think about your future before you get rapt by loans. It’s always wise
to be smart now than realize later that –“If only I didn’t have a credit card I
didn’t have to pay my loans.â€

if u can call the credit card company...show them some specific reason like sickness or disability to pay it right now...ask them to hold the payment...if u do like that they will hold the payment because they also want their money back and they dont want to take it as bad debt.....so do it slowly...its gonna take a while but u will do it....

Your credit history is important during Job search after graduation friends. They will check your credit history before offering a job no matter how brilliant you are. i.e your credit history should be clean. does not matter if it is just average. But should not show any in RED marks.

Does anybody know how long those companies come after you? A friend of mine has stopped making payments for nearly 3 yrs. now but he never filed bankruptcy, just change his job, address and phone no. etc. Can they still take him to court and garnish his wages. Anybody with such experience or knowledge???

These collection company will always come after you even after 10 or 20years. You just have to pretend that it is not you. Again once the negative deliquency is gone after 7 years then it does not matter even if they call you. JUST HANG UP. Dont say you will pay up, then it will go in your credit for about more years. Now regarding the court coming after you, it depends on what state are you and what is the statute of limitation at that particular state.
If the statute of limitation is over, the company can't take you to court, they will only try to threaten you but they can't do S/H/I/T
