Violating human rights in the name of peace

Aim: to mull over possible results of hitherto ignored procedure

Proposal to the Nepal government:

Capturing and torturing, with the possibility of executing if deemed necessary, the near and dear ones* of all maoist top leaders (including Mr. Baburam Bhattarai, Mr. Pushpa K. Dahal, Mr. Krishna Mahara, Mr. Ram Bahadur (Badal), Ms. Pampha Bhusal and the likes).

*The near and dear ones include, but is not limited to, their mothers, fathers, sons/daughters, cousins, in-laws, grandsons.

Drawbacks:

It?s a shame, to say the least, when innocents are killed simply because some of their family members chose to resort to violence. It is likely to draw heavy criticism from many quarters, mainly Human Rights groups.

Possible positive results:

1.The Maoists leaders agreeing to shun the path of violence

2. When the family members of top brass of Maoists are killed, the fight then will progress towards a genuine effort of each party trying to finish off the top leaders on the opposing side (and thankfully, the low ranking police personnel, reporters, inspectors will not be the only target). I believe, this will provide enough reasons for the governing body to genuinely target the top leaders and be serious about fighting the insurgents.

3. 300-400 innocents will die sparing the lives of many more thousands.

P.s. This is only a proposal, with the aim of hearing what the learned minds have to say about this issue. After all, all issues are worthy of being discussed properly.

P.s. 2. I know some of you people will raise childish questions like ?how will you feel if you were involved in terrorism and if your parents were captured?? My answer is : ?I would never be involved in terrorism AND As a human being, we all have two sets of rules: one for ourselves and the other for the rest?. Happy?
