Turn on the TV and you will see everything that is what is wrong with this world. War. Street violence. Serial killers. Paedophiles. Drunk drivers. Abusers. Alienation. Dissatisfaction. Purposelessness... The list can go on forever. TV shows like "Dog eat dog", "Cheaters, "Fear factor", and "Crime Scene Investigation" are what everyone watches when they get back home after a long day dealing with this short and brutish world.

The fact that these shows are watched by millions of Americans (and everyone else) says much about the world we live in. Has our society has become so much nastier than it ever used to be that we have to resort to TV shows that imitate the mess we live in to immunize ourselves to it. Or is it just that I'm no longer the innocent boy who was blissfully shielded from all the evil in the world...
