It's Not Coming Home
Well, it was Messi Magic all over again as Argentina beat England 2-1 to once again be in the finals this World Cup. It was supposed to be the greatest game in this edition of the greatest tournament in the world. But somehow it looked more like a street fight in the beginning and ended with two late goals from Argentina to seal the deal for Messi and his boys.
I think the Argentines will never forget the Malvinas till the end of the world. This generation of English footballers really don't give a hoot about Maradona and his Hand of God then or the Falkland Islands either, but they seem to have lost their way even after taking a 1-0 lead.
The British Media is now blaming the German coach for his defensive tactics, but in the end, I guess they should blame the players instead. Messi and his boys have more talent and skills than the whole English squad. I have been a huge England fan since I was a kid, so I think I can talk trash today about my favorite team and get away with it.
I think the English lack what you might call the 'soul' or some call it a completely different heart, but you do get my point, don't you? Messi and his boys are like your small toley kids who can play scrappy and still scrap a victory with late heroics, while the English always have had their ego up their arse and play football like the world owes them something.
Argentina would have scored a few more goals if they hadn't hit the post twice and some saves here and there. I think the English forgot how to play football after taking the lead, and blaming the coach for his defensive strategy is just lame!
Yes, you have to defend against such a team, but when you get the breaks, then you go all out and take your chances to score more goals. So Kane and Bellingham can take some credit for England's defeat as well.
I don't think the English will beat the French for the third-place finish, but the final is going to be one of the greatest games on Earth for decades to come, or it might be just a draw and into extra-time and then penalty shoot-out, and God favors Messi and his boys again.
In a few days, the World Cup 2026 will come to an end. I hope productivity here in Nepal, be it in our corporate offices, factories, and schools, will now bounce back to normal after a month of late nights and less sleep to watch the greatest tournament on Earth.
Spain and Argentina are probably the right match for the finals. Spain has been the best technical team in this tournament and has conceded just one goal so far. Only one goal against them in seven matches with six clean sheets. Argentina has conceded more than they wanted to and has struggled for 80 minutes of the game throughout most of their matches until they woke up from their hazy daze and decided to score a few to win their matches.
Will Spain keep it tight and win it, or will Argentina do their late magic tricks to win the World Cup again? We can't predict anything right now. Argentina faces the best team in the tournament. But Argentina has Messi, and Yamal tries to be Messi, but he is not there yet, but the Spaniards could finally bring back the trophy after 16 years in the wilderness, a little less than King Odysseus, maybe. Or will God once again favor the greatest footballer of all time, King Messi and his boys?
